Today, monitoring the vehicles in the traffic, determining the traffic density and making analyses
related to these topics are important in terms of reducing the number of the traffic accidents. The speed
of the cars and density of the traffic on the way are studied in various ways. For this purpose, the use
of cameras makes the processes easier. In this study, on the video images taken from the cameras, the
speed of the vehicles on the roads has been determined. Moreover, the density of the vehicles has been
established by counting the number of the cars navigating on the roads. Thus, with the aim of reducing
the traffic accidents, the use of cameras in a more efficient way has been studied to monitor the density
of traffic in real-time. Speed and density of the vehicles observed through video images has been
analyzed and compared with the real rates.
